Hi Catherine,
I have NEVER heard of Jesse Tree, but I am so psyched to do this for our family!! I love the visual of the ornaments for the children, as well, and the scripture verses you gave will be so helpful.
Thank you so much for sharing!! Are you going to post about how your Family Worship nights this December are going? Since I may be frustrated, as Mikaylah is just turning 1 and may not be too cooperative. ;)
What a wonderful idea! I had never heard of this either. I don't know if we'll be able to do it this year, but I hope to do it next year. Thanks for sharing.
Vicky, it was hard last year when Hannah was one, because she didn't have a whole lot of patience and we didn't have a whole lot of preparation. I'm hoping that this year setting it up in advance will help. I'll probably do a few posts on how it goes this year, or maybe just update the posts as we go.
I love it! I love it! I don't know that I'll get it together enough to do the tree this year, but now, thanks to you, I have a wonderful plan for nightly advent readings! Thank you!
Thank you so much for posting this. I just sat here and wrote down everything on the back of some clipart ornaments I printed, but can't remember where they came from. I love the real ornaments and home to start looking for ours soon. This year we will use paper. I can't wait to get started. This will be our first year. Thanks again.
I have been looking for Bible based family traditions to instill and this has definitely hit the mark for Christmas time. We plan to alternate the Jesse Tree with a Chanukkah tradition (demonstrating the Hebrew roots of Christianity and how it points to Jesus, our Messiah). Thank you so much for laying out the daily reading and ideas for the Jesse Tree.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. I too have been looking for a more meaningful reading schedule that points to Christ more clearly.
Wow! I've had the exact thought you did when I was trying to find a Jesse Tree devotion for our family. It seemed like there were options that were very long with Bible reading or too short and didn't really tell the Biblical story.
My husband and I actually spent a year working on a children's book that made sure that ever character connected to Jesus. That we didn't leave out the important aspects just because it would be tricky to explain.
My husband actually spend all the time connecting the Bible stories then I tried to make them simple enough for kids to understand... it was super hard!! But I'm really happy with the end result, I've even had adults say, wow I never realized that before about that Bible story in our book, yet our son who is two likes to sit and hear the stories as well :)
MyJesseTree.com has all the readings, printables, coloring ornaments, DIY ornaments ideas all free :) We tried really hard to make our Jesse Tree a mix of the important Theology while still for kids.
This will be our first year really using the book together as a family, as my son will finally be two, so almost old enough to appreciate it. Only 6 more days till Advent. Good luck on your Jesse Tree
